The new millennium saw another revolution in the history of mankind - The Information Technology (IT) Revolution. It is the fastest growing field in the world. India has a major stake in this field and our software & hardware experts, firms and IT specialists have been contributing significantly towards this.

One of the biggest influence of IT in our lives is the widespread usage of Electronic Mail (E-Mail). This is a high speed communication mode through the Internet. This can be sent or received from any corner of the world. E-mail is the communication of the future that will soon eliminate the need for postage, courier & telephone conversations. All types of special information can be transferred by e-mail.

The second most vital area of development is Electronic Commerce (e-commerce). Corporate firms would float their tenders and projects; Vendors management and engineering consultants and other business associates can discuss projects & orders would be placed online and executed through the internet which is why e-commerce is picking up rapidly in the Indian industry.

Another important IT development envisaged is the advent of Internet Access points in all parts of urban India. All type of information from every field are available online on the Internet.

IT has made its presence felt in consumer electronics also. For examples: mobile phones, DvDs, MP3 players etc. The satellite phone is another feather in the cap of IT professionals.

IT would usher modern man into the era of a paperless office. The real emphasis would then be on performance, not paper work.
